Promenade des Anglais

The long arching Promenade des Anglais is the focal point of Nice, with its spectacular views of the "Bay of Angels". You must stroll down the promenade at least once during your holiday to Nice.

The ""old town " or Vieux Ville

There is much to see and do in the narrow streeted old town. This area captures the old Italian flavour of Nice. There are a great selection of bars and restuarants in this area.

Dont miss out on Fenocchio's Ice Cream Parlour on Place Rosetti. Here you have a choice of more than 90 different flavours of home made ice-creams.

The daily flower market in
Cours Saleya is also not to be missed. This area near the Promenade is transformed into beautiful open air restaurants each evening with many specialising in fish and local Nicois dishes.

If you have the energy, climb the Colline du Chateau and enjoy panoramic views of Nice and the Riviera Coast.

Many visitors take the oppurtunity to visit the French Alps to walk or hike through its majestic peaks and scenery or spend some time skiing in winter.

Shopping In Nice

Nice is a shopping paradise with all the designer stores including a large Galeries Lafayette outlet on Place Massena. The main shopping area ist just five minutes walk from our apartment where there are shops for every budget!


Cultural and Historical Nice

Nice is well known for its Russian Church, its interesting museums and its Roman ruins at Cimiez.


Dining Out

Nice has a vast array of restaurants, with prices to suit every pocket. Along the Promenade des Anglais, Place Massena and the Pedestrianised Zone there are many tourist places to eat. In the old town there is a great choice, with open air restaurants or smaller more intimate dining choices.

Close to our apartment in the area around Rue d'Alsace-Lorraine, there is a wonderful choice of French, Italian, and Asian restaurants. These offer tremendous value for money with 4 course meals and wine for €15-€20. The quality of food is very good and its just a 5 minute stroll home!

Night life in Nice

Nice has much more cafes than bars, but if you wish to find bars, Irish pubs or discos, head for the old town. Nice with its infusion of cultures has plenty of alternative music choices with Jazz, Cuban and African music to be heard. Opera and classical music lovers are also catered for with a varied calander of events.

Visit three countries, Monaco, Italy and France!

Nice is the capital of the Riviera and is the perfect base for exploring both the beautiful coast and the inland regions of Provence.

Take the train from Gare Central Nice (350m away) to Monaco and the Italian Riveira to the East.

To the west, the train will take you to the well known towns of Cannes and Antibes

The historic "perched village" of Eze, is a favourite with visitors as is Grasse, the home of French perfume.
